Natural mineral water is a water clearly distinguishable from ordinary bottled drinking water, as defined by the Codex Alimentarius Commission, because, among others :

1. It is from a natural and protected aquifer;

2. Of the constancy of its composition, giving specific characteristic to its content of certan mineral salts and trace elements and microbiological purity;

3. it is not subject to any treatment and should be bottled at the source.


Water that cannot fulfill the Codex Standard for Natural Mineral Water should be known as drinking water.
